Tele-dinette

Home 2020 Architecture Studio Final (Group) Project
The teledinette consists of a set of tables that ambiently express the presence and activity of individuals at the opposite table. The primary vehicle of expression is an array of colored LEDs built into the surface of each table. One table is the red table and the other table is the amber table. When a shadow is cast on the red table, the red LEDs in the area shadowed on the red table are turned on in the both tables, expressing the action-taking place on and around the red table to people seated at the amber table. When areas of amber table are shaded, the corresponding amber LEDs are lit on both tables, so that one grid cell of a table can at any time be unlit if both sides are unshaded, red if that cell is shaded only on the red table, amber if it is shaded only on the amber table, and orange if it is shaded on both.
